Discovery is the beginning of knowledge.. Dyscovery station is a science kit with numerous engaging activities & experiments for children to perform. The kit helps children construct various models to understand the fundamental principle and applications of various science concepts. Learning happens through discovery by performing various iterations using the model.

Description

• An interesting opportunity for children to learn concepts such as force and laws of motion, the structure of atoms, the law of conservation of mass, gravity and its effect on objects, different States of matter and their properties etc

• This science kit for class 9 will also, throw light upon concepts such as sound and its properties, wireless transmission, separation of liquids and kinetic energy of matter

• This Science kit for grade 9 will help students in laying a strong foundation on the aforementioned concepts
Learning Outcomes

Filtration process-: This will demonstrate how filtration actually takes place when a mixture of sand and water is poured on to a litmus paper.

Size of matter-: By this activity for kids, it is aimed to convey the idea of the scale at which matter exists, and how many atoms and molecules are there.

Magnetic Levitation-: Through this activity for kids, they will understand the attraction and repulsion properties of magnets, and how it can be used to project an object in the air.

Law of Inertia-: This is a demonstration of how an object opposes a change of its state of rest or motion unless an external force is applied.

Centrifugal and Centripetal forces-: This is a demonstration of how both centrifugal force and centripetal force will act on an object which is in a circular motion.

Simple Pendulum-: By this activity for kids, children will understand how a simple pendulum works, which when displaced from an initial angle and then released will swing back and forth in periodic motion.

The kinetic energy of matter-: Children will learn that all particles have energy and this energy depends on the temperature the sample of the matter is in.

Law of conservation of momentum-: This is essentially a demonstration of the law of conservation of momentum using marbles of different sizes and weights.

Archimedes principle-: Through this activity, children will get to know how a solid block when immersed in a liquid displaces the same weight of liquid as the weight of the block.

Sublimation-: This is a demonstration of how a substance changes from the solid state to gaseous one without undergoing the liquid phase.

Balloon Plane-: This is the Demonstration of Newton’s third law, where the air from the balloon when released acts as a force that propels the balloon forward while the air is released backwards.

Float or Sink-: Children will observe how the density of an object compared to the density of water determines whether the object will sink or float.

Law of conservation of Mass-: Children will understand that the total mass of a system is neither increased nor diminished by the reaction between the parts.

Propagation of Sound-: Children will learn how sound propagates through a medium and gets reflected, refracted or attenuated by the medium.

States of matter-: Through this activity children will learn about the different states of matter and how it is classified, based on the physical and chemical properties.

Rutherford’s model of an atom-: This demonstration will help children in understanding the position of protons and neutrons in an atom.

Transverse Wave-: This will demonstrate how transverse waves are formed and their patterns.

Separation using chromatography-: This activity for kids will be of help in understanding how to separate a mixture of solution using chromatography.

Photo resistance using light sensor-: This is designed to make children understand how a light sensor works in a closed circuit and observe its function.

Longitudinal Wave-: This will demonstrate how longitudinal waves are formed and their patterns.

Tyndall Effect-: Through this activity children will understand how the light scatters when a light beam passes through a colloid.

Changed particles in matter-: Children will learn how charged particles (electrons) can be transferred from one material to another.

Tuning Fork-: With the help of a vibrating tuning fork, children will understand the concept of resonance.

Separation of immiscible liquids-: The kids will, through this activity, will learn about how liquids, which are insoluble in each other, can be separated.

Wireless power transmission-: They will understand how the transmission of power can be done without any physical contact of the wires.

Osmosis process-: Children will learn about how molecules of a solvent pass through a semi- permeable membrane from a less concentrated solution to a more concentrated one.
